FAQs

Questions,
answered.

Everything you need to know about Looma, your data, and how it all works.

What actually is Looma?

Looma is an autonomous car insurance agent that continuously monitors your insurance in the background. Instead of filling in forms every year and manually checking comparison sites, Looma keeps track of your insurance position over time and alerts you when something genuinely matters.

Is Looma a comparison site?

No. Looma is designed to sit alongside – and eventually beyond – traditional comparison sites.

Instead of showing you endless quotes once a year, Looma continuously monitors your insurance position over time using market insights and your verified insurance data, should you choose to.

How is Looma different from other “insurance apps”?

Most insurance platforms are built around switching and commission incentives. Looma is designed to help you understand whether your insurance actually makes sense over time, not just whether it’s the cheapest quote today.

To be clear, Looma is not an insurer. See our Regulatory Disclaimer for more details.

What does “autonomous insurance agent” mean?

It means Looma continuously monitors your insurance in the background for you.

Your Looma Agent tracks pricing trends, renewal windows and changes in your insurance position over time, then surfaces what’s genuinely worth your attention.

Nothing happens without your permission.

Does Looma replace my insurer?

No. Looma is not an insurance company.

Looma helps you understand and monitor your insurance.

Where does Looma get my data from?

If you choose to dig deeper, Looma can use your verified insurance data obtained directly from insurers and related organisations, with your permission. You will always be able to see the raw data if you want to, with the click of a button: it’s your data after all.

This is the same type of data insurers use to understand and price your insurance.

Is my data estimated or guessed?

No.

Looma is designed around you and the data you provide. If you choose to, Looma can use your verified insurance history directly.

Does Looma sell my data?

Looma does not sell your personally identifiable information.

Where data is used to improve services or insights, it is handled using privacy and security controls designed to protect users. Check out our Privacy Policy for more details.

Can Looma change my insurance policy automatically?

No.

Looma can monitor and surface insights, but it will never switch policies or take action without your permission.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, of course.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Is Looma free to use?

Yes.

Is Looma regulated?

Looma provides insurance monitoring, insights and contextual guidance tools.

Looma Agent does not currently provide regulated financial advice. See our Regulatory Disclaimer for more details.

Who’s behind Looma?

We’re a British startup with backgrounds in health data, fintech, and big data technologies. We believe that comparison sites were novel 20yrs ago and have since focused their energy on novel advertising campaigns instead of enhancing the service they provide or improving all of our understanding of car insurance and what we’re buying. We don’t want to compare the comparison sites in 2026 or go to every provider individually – we’ve got our lives to live. So we’re building Looma for all of us!

Does Looma make commission when I switch insurer?

Looma is neither an insurer nor broker or any kind of insurance intermediary, plus Looma is not built around commission-driven switching incentives anyway.

The goal is simply to help users understand their insurance position clearly and transparently.

Why should I trust Looma with my insurance data?

Insurance already runs on your data – Looma simply helps you see and understand it.

Do I need to fill in long insurance forms every year?

That’s exactly the problem Looma is trying to reduce.

Looma is designed to build an ongoing understanding of your insurance profile over time so you don’t have to repeatedly start from scratch every renewal season.

Does Looma work with all insurers?

Not yet.

Looma is still growing carefully and support will expand over time as the platform develops.

How long does it take to set up?

Initial setup only takes a few minutes and then Looma Agent is set up to track.

Requests for verified insurance data however can take longer because insurers have legal response windows.

Why does Looma stay “quiet” sometimes?

Because not every insurance change matters.

Looma is designed to reduce noise and only surface information when it’s likely to be genuinely useful.

That’s a big part of the product philosophy – we’re not chasing your engagement all the time.

Can Looma help me save money?

Potentially, yes – but the goal is broader than simply chasing the cheapest quote.

Looma is designed to help you understand value, pricing trends and whether an insurance policy still makes sense for your current situation.

Why hasn’t how we shop for insurance changed in 20 years?

Because most platforms still rely on the same annual switching cycle and commission-driven incentives.

Looma is trying to build something different: continuous monitoring instead of annual panic.

Why does Looma focus on transparency?

Because insurers already use huge amounts of data to assess drivers.

We think drivers should be able to see and understand that world too.

Why doesn’t Looma constantly send push notifications?

Because attention is valuable.

Looma is designed to monitor continuously in the background and only interrupt you when something genuinely deserves your attention.
